The Wonderment of Your Dreams
“Go confidently in the direction of your dreams.
Live the life you have imagined.”
- Henry David Thoreau
It is the holiday season, that time of year when we spend just about every waking moment thinking of gifts, planning events for family and friends, and doing something special for those less fortunate than ourselves. It is the season in which we give, and try to spread happiness and joy. It is the season of realizing and creating dreams.
Dreams, however, are not limited to the holiday season. Dreams are an important part of our lives “24/7” and 365 days a year. We dream at night when we sleep and, at times, we daydream of how we would like our lives to be. However, for many people dreams go unanswered. Dreams remain a part of their hopes and wants and become unfilled mind energies and emotional states. For some people, the “spark of life’s energy” that is created in dreams is not translated into significant action. It remains as thoughts and words.
Why then, do dreams remain as thoughts and words? Why aren’t they transformed into significant actions that will enhance our lives, the lives of our families and friends, and quite possibly benefit society as a whole? Why are these opportunities lost, and their benefits never realized? There are many answers to these questions, and most of the answers center on a lack of self-confidence, fear of the unknown, and/or individuals telling us that “it can’t be done.” We allow these “negative voices” to falsely convince us that we cannot attain our dreams. These “negative voices” must be dismissed, and they must not be allowed to interfere with our dreams and aspirations.
Our dreams are the manifestations of our past experiences, our talents, and our aspirations to live a better life. Our dreams provide the “juice” of life. They provide us with the emotion that is essential for effective action. Dreams are the foundation of opportunities. During this busy holiday season take a few moments and give yourself the gift of dreams. Give yourself the gift of dreaming that you can reach the stars and, most importantly, give yourself the gift of acting on your dreams. Reach for the stars and enjoy the wonderment of the journey that began with your dreams. Your life will never be the same.
